Division: Security. While she could easily be put R&A due to her work background, it makes the most sense for her character to pick a job she has the most confidence in. She's familiar with documentation and being detailed, but she is ultimately more familiar with putting herself between others and danger. Combat is something she excels at, and she would much rather be the one to shoulder that responsibility than those who aren't capable of fighting on their own. Plus if she can do a little less paperwork... she might actually enjoy her time here.
Edict: The Sorrowweld. Zani has fought her entire life with just the intention of surviving, hoping for a better life. As an adult she looks to her past wondering what would have changed if she had a single person who was willing to reach out to her - a beacon of shining light that would carve her a different path. In the end she created a new life on her own, burning the midnight oil by saving others throughout the city of Ragunna. She wishes for nothing more than the people of her home to live happily and without sorrow. Even when there are worlds where she falls to the Threnodian, the last to fall is her shield.

And if that isn't enough, her Forte skill is literally titled "There Will Be A Light".

Powers: Zani is a Mutant Resonator, a being within the series that resonates with the frequencies of the world and a gain certain abilities catered to their experiences. As a Mutant Resonator, Zani developed her Forte while undergoing extreme emotional distress or a surge of energy.

She is considered a Spectro character, meaning that her power comes from binding photons. Her Forte gives her the ability to channel these photons and goes into an enhanced state; she grows stronger, can cause time to temporarily stop, and she undergoes some physical changes. Her hair is a blinding light and scars of the past light up, as do her horns.

Outside of her powers as a Resonator she also has abnormal strength. She carries a shield - doubling also as a claymore - that goes up to her waist with relative ease and is noted to have insane grip strength. Within the game itself she is capable of defeating enemies in hand-to-hand combat alone.

As the Ascendants deemed your character worthy of being on this exploration voyage, what qualities did they observe in your character that they found appropriate for the mission?

The Ascendants would acknowledge her competence as a positive quality - a cut above the rest, if her employer were here to agree. Quoting the Averardo Bank's Employee Manual with grace, making sure that she is always presentable, and ensuring that she clocks in and out on time. She quickly adjusts to the wants and desires of her employer to avoid trouble, excelling at any tasks given to her to ensure that she avoids having to work overtime. A star employee with perfect attendance, now that she has a giant alarm clock strapped to her hip.

And she doesn't even particularly find working for the rich as something meaningful, just a good reason to slack off. Clock in, comb through endless paperwork and nap at her desk, maybe catch a few thieves, and then clock out. It's "easy" work even if the hours are unreasonable. And the only time she hates having to put more time in is if she is doing absolutely nothing.

But she's just as adaptable as she is dependable, as Zani had to develop all of these traits later in her life. Growing up in the slums and left with nothing but her name and the clothes on her back, she had lived life entirely on her own; pathed in bruises and bloodshed. She knows Ragunna City like the back of her hand because she was forced to survive in it's unfavorable shadows. She had seen others less fortunate than herself fall victim to the criminal organizations that preyed on the weak, and she had to learn to crawl out of that situation entirely on her own.

In short, she works hard and will get the job done. Even if it means having to do it by herself.

What is your character's best quality, what is their worst, and how do these two qualities affect each other?

Zani is undoubtedly a hardworking individual with a strong moral compass, with her sense of justice arguably being her greatest trait. She will not turn a blind eye to someone in need of help and has a strong disdain towards characters who torment or prey on the less privileged. The type of people who do not fear the law, who have no empathy for those they hurt - she aims to make them fear her instead. Zani can put herself in the perspective of those who have nothing and see them for what they are - human.

This does, however, make Zani rather self-abnegated. She doesn't particularly view herself as sub-human, but a major consequence that comes with originally having - and being treated as - nothing is that Zani herself doesn't have many other goals in life. She provides advice for her coworkers in the afternoon and rescues others at the dead of night. She shares little of her past life due to her restrained and a solitary nature, but wants to learn their favorite flavor of gelato. She thinks of life as nothing but living the same day on repeat. Her smallest joys evaporating as time passes until there's nothing left; growing numb.

As Zani fights for people to have a sense of belonging and safety, she has practically given up on the idea of receiving the same in kind. She secured a job and has a roof over her head, what more could she ask for? A person in her corner? Someone who she can finally confide in and call "home"? Maybe in the past she would hope for that, but not now. It is not that she doesn't think she is deserving of these things, it's simply never occurred to her to want something that is meant to be unconditional.

Your character's Edict appears in front of them, and agrees to grant them one wish: what does your character wish for?

She holds no malice to the rich and powerful that wouldn't so much as look her way in the past, but she also lacks the empathy to care for them individually. Still, it wouldn't be entirely wrong to assume that Zani holds a great amount of pride in Ragunna City and it's people. Especially after the countless of catastrophes that have plagued their home.

So her wish would be simple: a quiet life where everyone has found their place. She even states that that would be enough for her - essentially wishing for something that wouldn't strictly benefit her. She had been selfish escaping the underbelly of Ragunna City and now intends to be as selfless as she can with her time off. Zani can be found late at night on guard as she watches over the city and it's people, looking over the one thing she can confidentially say that she loves.

If days can be peaceful and they can all live quietly, what else is there for her to wish for? Other than maybe a vacation and none of her paid time off is going to be used while she's here.

The Theorem has broken down, and is drifting toward a black hole. There is very little hope of outside rescue. What does your character do?

She would have to deal with this after having to to bind Leviathan with the hope of every living being of Rinascita. But Zani knows that if there's any hope at all, especially collectively, then there's work that can be done - even in the face of what seems like the impossible. Physically and mentally she would put her all in any attempt to guarantee the safety of those boarded on Theorem, which means she wouldn't be in favor of any sacrifices or needless brutality.

If it means having to sacrifice herself, however... that is a completely different conversation. In the past she wished for a single person that would be willing to stand up for her and now, as an adult, she will be the shield for those that need it. A shadow in their corner that protects their light. In the end, if it's for people who she sees have an entire life ahead of them, she wouldn't mind being able to finally get a good nights rest. But only after they've exhausted all their other options.
